This page explains how information gathered via this website and by other means may be used. This website is managed by RP Fighting Blindness at PO Box 350, Buckingham, MK18 1GZ, UK.

This website was designed, built, maintained and is hosted by Granite 5 but information policy and website content is the responsibility of the charity.

What personal information do we collect and what we do with it?

Personal data might be collected from contact forms, mailed or telephoned donations, a mailing list you subscribe to, tell a friend forms, and so on. We do not collect any information automatically from your computer, we only collect information you knowingly provide. Such information is only collected to enable the charity to fulfill your requests or to keep you informed about the charity and our work. Your email address will be used, with your permission, to contact you about issues relevant to the charity or your transactions if any. We will not knowingly share your personal information with any third party without your express permission, unless required to by appropriate authorities.

Financial Information.

When you make a purchase, pay a subscription, or give a donation online through Paypal, CAF, Justgiving, Virgin Giving, and similar sites the charity does not have access to and does not have any cause to retain any credit card information.

If you provide bank details for a Direct Debit Mandate these are retained only for the purpose of processing payments authorised by you by the charity and our payment processors (CAF Bank).

If you send us a cheque we do not retain any details of your bank account numbers.

If you complete an 'off line' form to make a subscription or donation these may contain credit or debit card details. These forms are retained in order that the charity can claim Gift Aid (tax relief) on your donation. Credit card numbers are not recorded on our database and the forms are retained securely at our Head Office and are not used for any other purpose.

What about 'Cookies'?

Cookies are small pieces of information which are often created when you visit a website. They are stored in the 'cookie directory' of your computer and help us count the number of times users return to our site. They contain no personal information and cannot be used to identify you. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, though you do not have to. If you wish to disable cookies please consult the 'Help' portion of your browser's toolbar. Statistics about the use of our website are compiled by Granite 5.

Your right to request information.

You have a right to request a copy of any personal data held by RP Fighting Blindness. To obtain a copy of this information you should contact us at the address above or email us at info@rpfightingblindness.org.uk. We ask that you make a donation of £10 to cover the costs associated with providing this. We are entitled to request this under current regulations.

Your privacy and confidentiality is respected. RP Fighting Blindness takes all reasonable precautions to protect all data in accordance with current legislation, however we cannot be responsible for loss or misuse of data by unauthorised persons.


Donations cannot normally be refunded except at the discretion of the Trustees which is unlikely to be applied. Membership subscriptions are non-refundable if membership is cancelled part way through a year. Any purchases are protected by the usual consumer protection legislation.
