World Sight Day 2017

12 October 2017

Today, Thursday 12th of October is World Sight Day. World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment.

World Sight Day aims to raise public awareness of blindness & vision impairment as major international public health issues.

It influences governments / Ministers of Health to participate in and designate funds for national blindness prevention programmes and educates target audiences about blindness prevention, about VISION 2020 and to generate support for VISION 2020 programme activities.

World Sight Day is an important advocacy and communications event on the eye health calendar. It is a great time to engage with the world at large! Whether you work within the sight loss sector, are directly affected by sight loss yourself, or know someone who is, the message of awareness is an important one. Please help us and the wider visually impaired community by talking about World Sight Day and its aims with those around you.
