RPFB Children & Young People Multi-Sport Event

05 August 2018

RP Fighting Blindness will be welcoming young people affected by inherited sight loss to attend our first multi-sport day in association with the Nottingham Forest Community Trust on Sunday 5th August 2018, 10:00am - 3:00pm. This event will be held at The Forest Sport Zone, Gregory Blvd, Nottingham, NG7 6LD.

This one-day event is being organised and run by the Nottingham Forest Community Trust with support from RPFB. All coaches at the trust are qualified and are arranging multi-sport activities. This day is for young people aged between 6 and 18 who are living with an Inherited Retinal Dystrophy (IRD) or syndrome, including retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and Usher syndrome.

The event will be held at the purpose-built Forest Sport Zone near Nottingham City Centre. We have full use of the entire site for the day (which is fully enclosed by secure fencing). No members of the public will be allowed on site.

The day will start at 10am on Sunday 5th August, with registration available from 9.30am and is due to finish at 3.00pm. Participants should wear appropriate sportswear and trainers.

Parents and carers are invited to leave young people with the staff team on the day and explore the many options available in Nottingham, alternatively you are welcome to stay and watch. For those who wish to explore Nottingham, the nearby tramline (with free parking) is available for a short ride into Nottingham City Centre.

This is a great opportunity to for young people to get involved in different sports and make friends with others who have the same or similar conditions. For parents wishing to stay, we will provide tea and coffee. The RPFB Services team will be on hand to offer information and guidance about what RPFB is able to offer, and put you in touch with other services that may be of use to you and your family. You’ll also be able to meet other families and make new friends.

Lunch and refreshments are provided for all young people participating in the day.

We hope this will be the first of many of these types of events we run throughout the country.

This event is free to attend but places are limited, so please do contact us to register your interest!
